How high should a pendant lamp be in the hall?
A loft lamp in a hall is a beautiful addition to your space, but it must also be functional. This way you want to be able to walk under it without having the feeling that the lamp is coming too close when you are on the ground floor.
Even if you take off your vest or jacket over your head, you don't want to accidentally hit the bottom lamp.
We therefore recommend that the distance between the bottom of the lowest lamp and the floor of the lowest floor is at least 240cm.
This way the lamp is still part of the bottom floor without bothering you.
What is a good amount of light in the hall?
The amount of light is expressed in lumens. This is a unit of measure for the total amount of visible light that a light source emits in all directions.
There are no strict rules for lighting in a hall, because it depends on personal preferences, the size of the room and the desired atmospheric effect. In general, you can use the following rules of thumb.
For a small and not too high hall
Basic lighting: About 200-400 lumens per square meter.
For example, for a hall of 5 square meters you would consider a lamp with an output of 1000-2000 lumens.
For a large and high hall
Basic lighting: About 400-600 lumens per square meter.
For example, for a hall of 10 square meters you might consider a lamp with an output of 4000-6000 lumens.
Please note that these values may vary slightly based on personal preference and the specifics of the hall. At one hanging lamp in a very high room for example, do you need more lumens per m2.
When choosing lamps with a dark coating, the so-called titanium lamps, the light intensity is limited. This is mainly intended as mood lighting. In such cases, additional lighting may be necessary to emphasize dark corners or specific accents.
In addition, adding spotlights, stair step lighting or wall lamps in the hall can help create balanced and functional lighting.
