In my younger years
I have always had a passion for working with my hands. As a child I built moving cars and helicopters from old CD players. I was very much in my element then.
I rediscovered this creativity around the age of 26.
How it all started
One day my partner wanted a lamp in a nice bottle and I told her that I could make it myself. My father was a pharmacist and still had a number of pharmacy bottles. I asked him for a mouth-blown specimen with an old cork and made it into my first lamp.
I received many positive reactions, including from the owner of a store in Amsterdam, Sukha. I built twelve lamps, showed them to her and she bought them all.
A week later I registered with the Chamber of Commerce: Lichtbeurs was a fact!
Lichtbeurs
Light fair Anno 2025
What started as a hobby project has now become a serious business almost eight years later with more than 500 projects throughout the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg, England and other EU countries.
I started in my garage and have now had a beautiful external workspace and showroom for 4 years.
What do you like most about work?
What I value most about my work is the creative process that occurs when I create custom loft lamps and dining table lamps for my clients.
Customization offers the opportunity to offer people with challenging spaces beautiful lighting. Each lamp takes on a unique character, which keeps the work constantly interesting. I also really enjoy the personal contact with my customers.
Partnerships
Although I usually work independently, a few years ago I was reinforced in the production of the various ceiling plates and steel frames.
Corstiaan, the craftsman behind Houtwaard, and Justus, the owner of Artisans, both located in Laren, now make valuable contributions to the lamps of Lichtbeurs.
Collaborating with these craftsmen adds an extra layer of craftsmanship to Lichtbeurs's lighting.
